AP-NS1000, which is a network multimedia server, is a next-generation high-performance network multimedia processing device that processes video/audio media signals based on DSP and a RAID1 hard disk. This product is configured with 2-port 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit interfaces, four multi-service slots where a variety of video/audio codec modules can be selected and mounted, and two 3.5-inch HDD module slots. AP-NS1000 is available in various multimedia networking environments such as VoD proxy servers, multi-channel A/V decoders, multi-channel video broadcast servers, and corporate IPTV encoders.
A demand on embedded multimedia servers that support reliability and high quality video services has been increasing as a keen interest in advanced multimedia communication services based on networks such as IPTV, VoD, and network DVR has been drawn. AP-NS1000 allows you to build an efficient multimedia communication environment in a variety of fields depending on user requirements.
The application services of AP-NS1000 are applicable to multiple fields. Depending on applied fields, various DSP-based multimedia signal processing modules are supported. For instance, AP-NS1000 can be used as a high quality real-time multi-channel video display device for the network DVR application service. In this case, a DSP-based multi-channel video decoder module is mounted on the rear panel. If AP-NS1000 is used as either a DVR encoder such as a video server or a storage server, a hard disk will be mounted on the front panel and a video encoder module will be mounted on the rear panel to provide services. A video encoder module equipped with a TV tuner is mounted on the rear panel, and inter-works with a video terminal such as AP-VP300, which is the video phone of AddPac, on a corporate network to provide the IPTV service.
Embedded Network Multimedia Server Platform
AP-NS1000 is an advanced device where the high quality DSP-based hardware codec designed and developed by AddPac is combined with real-time OS(APOS) and embedded hardware to provide network-based multimedia services. Network processing and multimedia processing are performed in different dedicated processors respectively by using an advanced embedded RISC processor and a high-end DSP that support Gigabit Ethernet to ensure better performance and efficiency.
Firmware Upgrade-Enabled DSP-Based HW Codec
DSP-based video codec modules available for this product such as AP-AV1000, AP-2TVD (multi-channel video decoder module), and AP-IPTV2E (IPTV encoder module) support video codecs based on H.263, MPEG-4, and H.264. Since the high-performance DSPs installed into the video codec module are all programmable, the features of AP-NS1000 can continue to be improved, changed, or added. You can flexibly adapt to future technology evolution. If you download an added or changed feature from the home page directly or set an automatic upgrade option whenever feature addition or change is done, you can use the latest feature without further operations.
VGA-Level Video Processing (30 Frames Per Second)
AP-NS1000 processes VGA(640×480)-level video by 30 frames per second based on the MPEG-4 compression codec, and allows you to set a frame rate and an appropriate bit rate depending on network status. This product supports a variety of video formats such as VGA, CIF, QVGA, and QCIF. If AP-NS1000 is connected to a pan/tilt/zoom camera, it can perform remote control by inter-working with a control port where RS232C of the codec module is integrated with RS422.
Various Network Functions and Advanced QoS
AP-NS1000 supports the latest features and advanced services ranging from the ones (e.g. a variety of network protocols, better Quality of Service (QoS), and the error concealment technology) specialized for an environment for IP conference calls to the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) service for preventing a failure and load balancing. Accordingly, AP-NS1000 can address various issues that may occur depending on network environments.
Various Application Fields
Since AP-NS1000 can be equipped with 3.5-inch RAID1 HDD and four high quality DSP modules in the form of slots on the basic Gigabit network platform, AP-NS1000 does not have the limitations of the application range in multimedia application services. AP-NS1000 can be used for a variety of application services because optional modules based on a high quality DSP can support voice and video codecs such as H.263 and MPEG-4.
Available in a variety of multimedia network environments such as VoD proxy servers, multi-channel video monitoring, multi-channel video broadcast servers, and corporate IPTV encoders
Multi-Channel Video Surveillance: AP-AV1000, which is the basic video codec module of AP-NS1000, has a video input port as well as a video output port. A video bit stream is transmitted from a remote site to the AddPac network DVR located at the AddPac headquarters and saved in the DVR in real-time. The corporate personnel can monitor the video in real-time through a large monitor such as TV. AP-NS1000 video-decodes the real-time live screen by using DSP, and displays the decoded screen on a large screen such as PDT TV. This method results in much better processing performance and capacity as well as better image quality than the traditional PC/server-based software method of video decoding. AP-NS1000 can also convert the multi-channel real-time video decoding part of the DVR server to hardware based on the dedicated DSP in order to reduce load of the DVR server and improve its reliability. This product is applicable to surveillance systems such as traffic monitoring, environment monitoring, and accident monitoring.
Multi-Channel Video Broadcast Server: AP-NS1000 enables local governments to broadcast a high-definition video in real-time by using their administrative networks. AP-NS1000 transmits video and audio signals to multiple sites in real-time through the video broadcast server of the AddPac headquarters. The video broadcast server receives a video from AP-VR1000 or AP-VR2000, which is a video service router, and broadcasts it at multiple sites. If a video is simultaneously transmitted to the multiple terminals of a specific site, this server can transmit a video of a certain channel to AP-VR1000 and broadcast the video to multiple terminals in order to reduce traffic on WAN. The broadcast server can also broadcast a video to multiple terminals on LAN simultaneously through the optional relay function of AP-VR1000.
VoD Proxy Server: AP-NS1000 in addition to the VoD server solution of AddPac can function as a VoD proxy server. The VoD server on Internet networks has the limitations of providing high quality VoD services due to the restriction of transmission bandwidth on a network and the limitations of QoS assurance. To resolve this issue, AP-NS1000 performs the local cache function for VoD services in a corporate network. Using this technique, AP-NS1000 can provide high quality VoD services to service subscribers.
Corporate IPTV Encoder: AP-NS1000 in addition to a video terminal solution such as AP-VP300 can function as an IPTV encoder. If you want to watch TV through a video phone such as AP-VP300 on a corporate network in a building, you can mount a video encoder module equipped with a TV tuner to perform the MPEG-4-based IPTV functions.
